A Good Place to Start

A good place to go for Recreational Vehicle policies are with the Insurance Company that you may already be working with. Find out what services they offer. You may often get a discount for having multiple policies with the same company. Such as motorcycle, boat, vehicle, RV, and Homeowners.

Liability Insurance

In the United States, many states require that all vehicles have at least Liability insurance in case of an accident. This includes insurance for your motorhome, trailer, fifth wheel, and tow vehicle. Insuring your recreational vehicle will protect both you and your finances. The policy you purchase should pay for any damages to your RV, medical expenses, and hotel accommodations, in the event of an accident. You will need to research which insurance companies are willing to issue policies on a RV and provide the correct amount of coverage.

The internet is another great place to go to check for policies that are available in your area. The internet will have details on policies that insurance companies offer in your area. You could consult with RV Facebook groups to get suggestions for RV policies they use. Make sure to look into the reliability of the insurance companies that are recommended to make sure you will be working with a company that is trustworthy and safe.

Options to Look for

Some companies will specifically offer motorhome insurance policies, but others will offer a variety of insurance options, including tow vehicle and trailer insurance. Be sure to find a policy that will cover the systems, appliances, furniture, and personal belongings. Fires can be a real possibility in a motorhome, make sure to have fire insurance. And make a list of all of the items you have in the RV, personal and built in appliances. This is especially important if you live Full Time in your RV. I do have to warn you, some insurance companies will not insure your RV if you live Full Time in it. Make sure to be honest upfront when you are signing up for the policy or risk finding out that you are disqualified for a payout if you get into an accident.

Reliability and Trustworthiness

Some companies will do business exclusively online as well. You can look for Recreational Vehicle insurance online and watch for the companies that have these policies available. Just know that not all of these groups will be well set up or reliable. Again, the reliability and trustworthiness of these companies is something that you should look into. Then again, you should know that some companies will have special online discounts for customers who reserve their policies online.

You can easily find information on these companies through reviews of their services. Check for online reviews about the insurance company, check with the Better Business Bureau. The only thing that I can warn you about internet searches is that many of these companies will sell your information, especially  if you do not sign up for a policy with them, so be careful what information you share when you are researching online. If you share your phone number for instance, be prepared for a year of robo-calls from companies that you have never heard of. If you share your email address, the same thing, spam emails forever.

My Take On Insurance

At this point I can share what I use for my full time motorhome insurance. I was at CampingWorld and checked out the Good Sam recommended recreation vehicle insurance. The policy covers my appliances and personal belongings. I have a storage unit where I keep a record of my belongings in case I need it. I have read on Facebook RV pages where RV owners are paying half of what I pay, but they are not carrying coverage on their belongings. It all comes down to ‘pays his money takes his choice’.

South Dakota

A good place to check on RV coverage if you are a full-timer, is South Dakota, they have good rates on insurance, vehicle registration, and mail services.

Conclusion

Motorhome insurance is something that you should use for your motorhome. You can find this form of vehicle insurance through various different insurance companies around the country, including some online sites. You can even get discounts by going online or by sticking with the insurance company you may already have policies with. The best recommendation would be to start by calling your current automobile insurance agent, but know your options before making contact.

Retiring can be a great time to enjoy the freedom and flexibility of life, but for me, I worried that it would be a time of restlessness and boredom. I was looking for an exciting way to stay active after retirement, Full Time RVing was the perfect choice. With the freedom to explore new places, meet new people, and create lifelong memories, Full Time RVing is my ideal way to stay active and engaged in my golden years. From learning about different cultures to discovering new hobbies or activities, Full Time RVing has offered my wife and I an opportunity to make the most out of our newfound free time.

Our motor home, gave us the Freedom to go wherever we wanted without having to worry about booking hotels or finding transportation. We especially enjoy our motorhome because it affords us all the comforts of home, we have a kitchen and living area, so we can relax in comfort.

I pretty well had a trailer, fifth wheel, or motorhome for the past 30 years. I was working in film in the Motion Picture Industry until film transitioned to digital in 2013. Film kind of died on the vine, so to speak, and so did my career. Oh, I did have some training in digital technologies, but not enough, and they no longer were hiring full-time in the area I worked in.

In 2011, my wife and I were RV camping at a lake in Southern California, we had the opportunity to pick the campground host brain about camp hosting. My wife and I knew that upon retirement, that would be what we wanted to do. At my retirement party in 2013, when asked what I planned to do, I did not say go the Disneyland, no, I said that I was going to sell the house, move into my 38′ Newmar Mountainaire motorhome, and camp host.

I found out that it wasn’t that simple, there were decisions that needed to be made, I needed a plan. I read some boring Kindle books, bought a course, and checked out Facebook sites, I could not find a workable escape plan for my situation.

Then a plan came to me, The 6 Steps to the Full Time RV Lifestyle course was conceived that day, and my wife and I began to implement it, it worked great. In fact, I have been able to share it with other campers in the campground that I work at. They all said that I should write the course and share it with the world.

Purchasing a New or New to You RV https://howtofulltimerv.com/purchasing-a-new-or-new-to-you-rv/ Tue, 29 Nov 2022 21:31:03 +0000 https://howtofulltimerv.com/?p=72 Are you interested in purchasing a new RV? If you are, you will find that there are a number of different ways that you can go about finding an RV to buy.

Are you interested in purchasing a new RV? If you are, you will find that there are a number of different ways that you can go about finding an RV to buy. For instance, you can often find new and used RVs for sale at RV shows, in newspaper classified ads, and at RV dealerships.

Although it is nice to know that RV dealerships are one of the places that you could look, when looking to buy a new or used RV, you may be wondering exactly how you can go about finding a good deal on an RV. In all honesty, you may find that the better RV deals may require you to travel to another state to purchase the RV. Sure there may be an RV dealership in or around your area, but taxes on a luxury item like an RV, may make it worth flying to another state to get a better deal. Look into states that have a lower tax rate than the state you live in. California and Utah being among the highest tax rate states. Montana or South Dakota lower tax rates..

Let’s say you want a 42’ Newmar Class A Diesel Mountainaire motorhome. The best price you can find in California is $275,000, but in Montana there is one with low miles on it for $260,000, it would definitely be worth flying to Montana and driving it back to California.

One of the many ways that you can find a good deal on  a motorhome or RV is by using the internet. What is nice about using the internet is that there a number of different approaches that you can take. For instance, you can perform a standard internet search. When performing a standard internet search, you may want to search with phrases like “new motorhomes for sale,” or “used fifth wheels for sale.” If you would like to buy an RV from a specific area, like your state, you will want to incorporate that location into your internet search.

In addition to using a standard internet search, you can also try using RV Trader, an online RV directory, that dealers and private parties list RVs for sale.. You may find an RV in your local area from a private party that is a better deal than you expected.

Another way that you can go about finding motor home dealers is by just driving around. If you have time to spare, this can be a little fun and exciting adventure for you. RV dealerships are often found along populated areas; therefore, they should be easy to spot. If you have nearby RV park, you are more likely to find an RV dealership near there.

Asking those that you know for recommendations is another one of the many ways that you can go about finding the RV of your dreams. If you know of anyone, like a family member, friend, coworker, or neighbor if they may know someone that has a RV for sale. You may be able to get a really good deal..

The above-mentioned ways are just a few of the many ways that you can go about finding motor home dealers. Whether you buy from an RV dealership or a Private Party, get the RV inspected by a licensed RV inspector. An RV is a large investment, an inspector may find defects or issues that you may not see. There is nothing worse than spending thousands of dollars on an RV and having it sit at the repair shop for a month. Believe me, I have been there!
