RV Roof

Overview

Roof maintenance is probably the most important of all of your maintenance tasks, especially if you live in your RV Full Time like I do. If your roof leaks it can damage the structure of your RV. You must stay on top of maintaining the roof. RVs have different materials covering them. You should consult your owner’s manual for proper care of the roof or take it to a reputable RV shop. Two years ago, I redid the seals around all of the apparatuses on the roof of my motorhome using a 4” EternaBond RoofSeal tape, it works wonders.

 Maintenance

1, Clean the roof with an appropriate product for the type of roof that your RV has

  1. Check for cracks or gaps in sealing material around items on the roof (air conditioners, air vents. refrigerator vent, antennas, etc.), use Dicor Self-leveling caulk to seal cracks.

Recommended

Cost

  1. RV rubber roof cleaner $33
  2. EternaBond RoofSeal 4” tape 20’ $20; 50’ $60
  3. Dicor caulk $14

While you are doing roof maintenance, take the shroud cover off of the Air Conditioners, and clean all of the leaves and debris from them. If you wash the roof you can nearly eliminate the  streaks that RVs get when it rains.
